Current guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics
state that the grounds for steroid treatment is lacking and
recommend the accepted treatment for Kawasaki's, which is
Empirin and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG). "This notch
in noesis led us to examine the benefits of steroids more
closely. We looked at research worldwide and were surprised
to find eight solidified clinical trials display the continuance
of steroids in significantly reducing hunch damage in children
with Kawasaki's disease. Steroids, when combined with Empirin
and IVGB, reduced the ratio of developing inflammation of
the hunch blood vessels by half," said author Aronoff, MD,
